How to Care for Your Designer Clothes

Designer clothing is an investment, and like any investment, it rewards attention. The good news: caring for premium fabrics does not require professional help for every garment. A few habits at home will keep your pieces looking salon-fresh for years.

Here is the care routine we recommend for everything in your Wee Bazar wardrobe.

Read the label, then trust it

The care label is not a suggestion — it is the manufacturer's guarantee. Follow the temperature, cycle and drying instructions exactly. When in doubt, hand wash or dry clean; the cost of caution is far lower than the cost of a ruined gown.

Wash less, air more

Most garments do not need washing after every wear. Air out pieces overnight on a padded hanger, spot-clean small marks, and reserve full washes for garments that truly need them. Fewer washes mean slower fading and longer fabric life.

• Air garments for 24 hours between wears
• Spot-clean stains immediately with a gentle cloth
• Wash inside out in cold water when you do wash
• Never wring or twist delicate fabrics

Dry flat and away from the sun

Heat is the enemy of premium fabric. Hang knits to avoid stretching them, dry delicates flat, and keep everything out of direct sunlight which fades colour. Tumble drying is reserved for sturdy, everyday cotton only.

Iron like a professional

Steam is kinder than a hot iron plate. Use a garment steamer for most fabrics, and reserve the iron for crisp cotton and linen with a pressing cloth between iron and fabric. Always iron at the lowest effective temperature.

Store to preserve the shape

Storage makes or breaks a wardrobe. Use padded hangers for gowns and blazers, fold knits to prevent shoulder bumps, and keep everything in a cool, dry, dark space. Moth protection and breathable garment bags finish the job.
